If you set your connection speed to Cable the server will actually think you have a 56k modem and send fewer network updates.
So, if you have a cable modem or DSL connection, either leave the connection type set to 'Auto' or, if that doesn't work for you, use the 'Lan/T1' setting instead. You will get much better networking performance.
