Wer direct Connect nutzen möchte und es nicht klappt habe ich hier evtl eine Lösung gefunden:

Hi Guys.. First time posting in here.. I actually registered for the forusm a long itme ago (when the beta was in progress) but i never posted anyways. Anyways "maioriel" from another forum told me to post this information to you guys so you can play Direct Connect with Generals( This applies for gusy with or without a router )(i manage to copy my post so i woulnd't have to post again)

The Alternative way is to join an VPN.. or Virtual Private Network for short. It pretty much fools windows thinking that the person you are direct conencted to computer is next to yours. There are step by step directiosn how to join an vpn server (Note:You could only join people who created a VPn server and nothing else, it won't work if somebody jsut gives you an ip!!)

That is if you want to host , and works great whether or not you have an router period. Since EA hasn't fixed it yet , might as well get this working.. I can confirm this method works, I just palye da 2vs 2 match.. almost lag free..

You can also host using an Virtual Private Network but it requres more steps, to create a host network follow these steps (I use Win XP Pro , so these instructiosn follow them , i dont' knwo what it is for any other OS)
1.)Go to Network Connections
2.)Create a New Connection
3.) Click On Setup an Advanced Connection and press Next
4.)Accept Incoming Connections
5.)In the next window "Devices for Incoming connections" make sure non of the boxes are checked and click next
5.)Click On Allow Virtual Private Network Connections then Next
6.)Now Make sure all boxes are unchecked and click on Add.. Create a Username/Fullname and Password, this can be anything, the username is waht you give to people so they can connect to your network. (Remember the username and password)!1.. once done checked to make sure the user you jsut created is checked then click next
7.)Click Next then finsih and you are all set to host ..

However.. if you do it this way , you could only host 1 person , meaning you could only host a one vs one game.. If you want to host more than one follow these instructions found here:

I hope these help you , cause it help me. I can't play with Generals with my router so instead i did this way. I hope it helps as much people it help me if you have problems post your problem here and i'll try my best to help you. Just for notices: I use an WinXP Pro Machine.. i don't knwo how it works for 98, ME or anything else.. i'm guessing it's teh same that is all.If you looking for games using VPN btw.. check out #generalsvpn using irc on efnet.
