Red Alert v3.03 for C&C: The First Decade ========================================= Patch update done by Nyerguds WARNING: Do NOT use this version of the 3.03 patch if you haven't installed Red Alert from The First Decade. It will mess up your Windows registry. Launching the patch: ------------------- Basically, all you have to do is unzip the entire contents of this zipfile in your Red Alert directory, overwriting any existign files. Then, you run "RA95.exe" A black window will appear that will say "The operation completed successfully" a number of times, and then launch the Internet Components installer. In the Internet Components installer click OK, and the patching is complete. Run RA95.exe again to start the game. You can also launch the game normally, through the TFD menu, of course. Possible bugs: ------------- I can't be held responsible for any game crashes caused by this patch. It was originally made by Westwood and deemed too incomplete to release. There is one issue that DOES concern my tinkering with the patch though: To make this patch compatible with TFD, I had to apply a NoCD crack to it. A possible issue with this NoCD crack is that it has a little bug that sometimes causes the game to ask for the Red Alert CD. If this ever happens, just put any CD you got lying around in your drive and it'll continue without any problems. It only actually checks if there's a CD, not if it's a RA CD. Side note: Soviet movies: ------------------------ To fix the TFD problem of the Soviet movies not showing beyond mission 1, do this: Use XCC Mixer to open main.mix and extract movies2.mix in your RA folder. Rename the extracted movies2.mix to scsovmov.mix. That's all? Yes, that's all. Really. Do this and you WILL see the Soviet movies again. You may want to use XCC Mixer to delete movies2.mix from main.mix and save some 400 MB disk space, but that's entirely your own choice. Possible side effect is a slightly longer loading time when the game launches. This is because the game has to scan scsovmov.mix for usable files. Both C&C1 and RA1 scan all mixfiles starting with 'sc' for usable files, and gives them the utmost priority. C&C1 and RA1 modding is based on this principle. That's all folks! Recently I've seen people play 8-player games on RA 3.03. If anyone can tell me how to do that, please mail me.
